Day 54: Can’t try much harder to get back to water

Miles complete: 3,875.8

I won’t say much now, because I need a nap before our celebration continues over dinner. But I wanted to get something out today, and I won’t do it later tonight. But I’ll share a few words and a few photos.

I teared up as we approached Easton’s Beach in Newport. Unfortunately, I was too emotional and excited to think about video on the final approach. Our #1 girls, Christin and Julie were there, along with the best friend a guy could have, our third rider Mark Lecy! The weather and scene couldn’t have been better; and for a brief moment it seemed we were the only 5 people on the earth. I’m tearing up again thinking about the scene as the right thumb does its job.

It was a great conclusion to our wonderful adventure. 54 days of riding (55 if I could that 15- mile night we returned to Buffalo); 3,875.8 miles (Geeto thought we should do some laps around Newport for 7 or 8 hours until we reached 4,000), and only one crash. At the very end.

Thanks everyone for your support in various ways. I’ll share more wrap up, photos and videos in the coming days. Until then, rest assured the pilgrims are happy and pedaling no more.
